MessageHi there

Just letting you know I dropped by and have your site bookmarked.

With so few Einstein related sites and info out on the web, your website was a great find and has helped me out in my search for Einstein related info.

I recently decided to create my own forums for Einstein discussion, in the hope that I can increase my knowledge of the machine and help others out too.

The only other site I could find any kind of facility is the Yahoo Einstein discussion group, though there appears to be some very knowledgeable people there - it's very quiet indeed.

I would like to add a link and description to your website on my forums if that's ok?

Regards

Richard

MessageHello! I am the person who created the Spectrum Emulator (aka Speculator) and Silicon Disc for the Einstein. I designed the Speculator for the Memotech originally. I made the Einstein version a bit later. I didn't know there was a book about the Speculator. I'd like to read it sometime to find out what I did! The Silicon Disc was done for the Einstein only.

I have quite a lot of Einstein items, including an original Einstein computer + monitor + 80-column card, along with Speculator and Silicon Disc hardware + software + documentation. Also a 12" amber Zenith monitor for use with the 80-column card, plus full source code listings for one version of the MOS and DOS. I tried the hardware today and it still works.

I also have a unique Einstein 256 computer + monitor, which I have modified so that double-sided discs can be used with it. I added a Side Select signal to the disc drive connector and modified the DOS to support 800K discs. Unfortunately the built-in 3" disc drive does not work so I cannot load the modified DOS (or any other DOS for that matter).

I would not need much persuading to part with all of my Einstein bits and pieces. I still have all the stuff I used to create the Speculator and Silicon Disc. For example, I have over twenty 60-way ribbon connectors and nearly 100 bare Silicon Disc PCBs if somebody fancies assembling some! MessageHi there. Twenty odd years ago I had Einsteins running my business, and I still have some discs. Some are Amstrad double sided and some are standard IBMtype. Do you think any of your group would want them, or shall I bin them. I don't have a clue what's on them but I've been reluctant to chuck them so far. I live in Paignton. Recipient would need to collect, or pay postage. Pete. TQ3 3XH

MessageLove the site, great to see the Einstein again. I had a tc-01 for many years. My favourite game was Kings Valley by Konami . Keep up the good work.

MessageHi,
I used to have the original Einstein later donated to a village school) and then bought a 256 mainly because it came with its own monitor so I didn't have to tie up a TV when using it.
I think the 256 is in my loft somewhere and if so it should have the second disk drive together with the connecting cable you are looking for.
Next time I'm up there I'll have a look and let you know.

MessageInteresting site! I had an Einstein, though sadly gave it away... Are the 256's still available?
