The TC-01 has room for two internal floppy disk drives. The problem here is that the drives are 3-inch drives, which were for example also installed on the Amstrad / Schneider CPC6128 and the Sinclair +3. The Einstein also has an external connection for a floppy disk drive. Internally and externally, a normal floppy cable can be used (but without the twisted wires).

Logically, the 3 inch drive is also smaller than a normal 3.5 inch drive (which I will use). The purpose is that you can then use as the main drive, the original 3 inches and a second drive a 3.5 inches, just to use the usual floppy disks. The software images can then be dragged onto the floppy on the PC using tools like CPCDiskXP. In addition, one could then use a Gotek USB drive with HXC firmware. This firmware also supports the Einstein.

The original Aussparrung in the front panel of the Tatung should continue to be used to destroy the overall impression too. If you want to insert a normal 3.5 inch floppy disk, you still have 1mm (!) Space to the sides in the original Aussparrung. So the front can more or less remain as it is, if you install the 3.5mm very exactly in the middle.

Have now attached to the 3.5 mm drive top and bottom black angle strips as panels. Thus, the entire look actually quite consistent and usable. In addition I had an old floppy cable (had also the connections for old 5 1/4 inch drives, which also use the 3 inch drives) something ummodeln, since the Einstein internally only a floppy connection has and at the original cable only a plug for the original 3 "drive was.

The old drive was set as boot drive 0. So open quickly and put the jumper from 0 to 1. I also wanted to use the old 3 "drive as a second drive (drive 1), so to use the new 3.5 drive as a boot drive, I only had to cut and connect the 10 and 12 wires of the floppy cable and from it. could now even the new drive installed on the left (it would take not take long), but for now I leave it this way. One might turn up his nose because of the lack of originality, perhaps, but that 3.5er personally was easy for me appropriate. A little test with the game River Bandits. If you still have questions about it ... bring it on.

Tomorrow there will be a current Pic of the Tatung, as I have today verggbt the keys.
